Noel Brindise

Doctoral researcher (Guest)

I am a U.S. PhD student in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently I am doing research at DSME at RWTH University. I will stay in Aachen until August 2023, working under the supervision of Dr. Prof. Sebastian Trimpe. My Ph.D. advisor at the University of Illinois is Dr. Prof. Cedric Langbort in the Aerospace Engineering department.

I completed my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Illinois, where I have since also studied German. My current research area is Controls and Dynamical Systems. I am mainly interested in Explainability for Autonomous Systems, namely, how to explain the trajectory of an autonomous system to a human. There are applications in the direction of Drone Swarm Control and Safe Path Planning, which offer good opportunities for collaboration with the DSME Institute.
